The grant provided fifth and sixth grade students with networked multimedia computers in their classrooms with access to the Internet.
Students and teachers were given access to an online service called the "Scholastic Network". This site was rich with student projects, teacher lesson plans, and subject area resources!
The grant allowed the district to specifically train all fifth and sixth grade teachers, and the special population teachers who serve these grades, to be proficient in computer skills and use of the Internet.
The grant improved the learning experience of fifth and sixth grade students with productive use of technology in their classroom.
Students used the "Accelerated Reading Program" to help develop reading comprehension skills.
The grant established a district computer training lab to instruct all faculty and staff in the use of technology.
This grant was fully implemented in January, 1999.
