As the next school year begins, the district will have "greater" broadband connections between the schools and district office & between the distict office and the Internet:
Internet bandwidth availability will be doubled from 500MB to 1,000MB (1GB) thanks to a new state contract for MS schools.
Broadband connections between the school sites and the district will increase to 1,000MB. More will be needed at a much faster rate with each passing year.
In 1997 the district had 1.4MB broadband T1 connections, flash forward to 2021 we will increase to 1,000MB. This is certainly needed to accommodate the bandwidth demand for:
4,000 Chromebooks
900 Windows devices
150+ wireless connected interactive whiteboards
30 network file servers
85 network printers
100 network switches (firewall and content filter)
And several thousand student and teacher personal devices
The district will also need to plan and support:
More technology training for faculty and staff
Additional technical support staff
Funding resources to replace and upgrade end user devices and other network equipment listed above
